The Human Resources Research Organization (HumRRO) is pleased to sponsor two fellowships: the HumRRO Fellowship in Industrial-Organizational (I-O) Psychology and the HumRRO Fellowship in Educational Measurement and Evaluation.
Each year since 1998, HumRRO has awarded a fellowship to a doctoral candidate in I-O psychology (or a closely related discipline) in recognition of outstanding academic achievement and research promise. Originally named in honor of HumRRO’s founding director, Meredith P. Crawford, it has become one of the most prestigious fellowships in I-O psychology. In 2024, HumRRO launched a second fellowship—the HumRRO Fellowship in Educational Measurement and Evaluation—to advance our mission to contribute to society, science, and the profession, and also renamed the Meredith P. Crawford Fellowship as the HumRRO Fellowship in Industrial-Organizational Psychology.
Each fellowship awards a non-renewable $18,000 stipend to a graduate student demonstrating exceptional research skills. Both recipients will be required to progress satisfactorily toward completion of their dissertation and present their research during a visit to HumRRO. Additional opportunities to interact with HumRRO staff may be provided. The financial award for each fellowship will be distributed in two installments (September and December).
Eligibility
To be eligible for consideration, an applicant must be a doctoral candidate in the discipline, or a closely related one, associated with the award:
- HumRRO Fellowship in I-O Psychology: Must be a doctoral candidate in I-O psychology or a closely related discipline.
- HumRRO Fellowship in Educational Measurement and Evaluation: Must be a doctoral candidate in educational measurement and evaluation or a closely related discipline.
Applicants’ dissertation topics must have been proposed and approved. Since a purpose of both fellowships is to provide financial support while students complete their dissertations, applicants should be actively involved in the process of completing their dissertation research but not finished nor near completion at the time of application.
Selection
Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of their research promise, academic achievement, and professional productivity. Finalists may be interviewed.
Application Process
Each applicant must provide HumRRO with the following materials on or before the deadline date:
Completed application form
Personal statement
Curriculum vitae
Three letters of recommendation
Official transcript from each institution attended for graduate academic work
