HumRRO is pleased to announce that research scientists, Samantha Elliott, Ph.D., and Emily Rost, Ph.D., were elected as officers of the Personnel Testing Council of Metropolitan Washington (PTCMW) for 2023. Elliott will serve as Recorder for the second year in a row, and Rost will become the organization’s Vice President.
Founded 45 years ago to provide professional development and networking opportunities to industrial-organizational (I-O) psychologists in the Washington, D.C., area, PTCMW is now one of the largest and most active regional I-O professional groups in the world.
As Recorder, Elliott compiles and reports all information related to Board activities and manages PTCMW’s social media accounts. “I am honored to serve on the PTCMW Board because the organization facilitates networking, idea sharing, and knowledge and skill growth for its members,” said Elliott. “These are all necessary activities for community building and innovation to occur. This year, it is my goal to expand our social media presence, which will hopefully increase our reach and impact.”
As PTCMW Vice President, Rost will be responsible for identifying speakers and producing monthly luncheon programs on topics relevant to members as well as serve as a member of the Board.
“It is an honor to serve in this role to provide networking opportunities and new learning experiences to the members of our field,” said Rost. “As a recent graduate, I have quickly realized the massive presence of I-O psychologists in the Metropolitan Washington, D.C., area. My goal is to plan inclusive events that encourage new and experienced members to connect.”
Elliott and Rost are the newest members of a long legacy of HumRRO staff members who have served in leadership roles at PTCMW since the early 1990s. HumRRO’s Shane Pittman, Ph.D., won the 2022 Stephen E. Bemis Memorial Award, named in honor of the founder of PTCMW, in part for her leadership service to the organization. She joined previous HumRRO recipients of the award, Deborah L. Whetzel, Ph.D. (2019), Dan Putka, Ph.D. (2015), and Deborah Gebhardt, Ph.D. (2010).
Giving back to science and society is a pillar of HumRRO’s core values. HumRRO congratulates and commends Elliott and Rost for their service!
